Our band was held up at Gun point. (just another tour story)

Last week, on July 4th, the band was on a journey to Fresno. They were on their way to celebrate the occasion with local friends Style Like Revelators and play a show on the 5th. As they cruised down Highway 99 North the front right tire of the band van blew out. This left the them stranded on the side of a random exit in Tulare, CA (the desert.) Hours went by and a tow truck showed up to help resolve the issue. The singer and drummer went with the tow truck to a nearby walmart to exchange tires while the rest of the crew waited patiently at a dingy motel near the freeway. In this hour of excitement, a man walked into the hotel and decided to hold up the band and clerk at gunpoint while taking all the money he could. After making a less than clean get away; multiple cops showed up to question the victims. The singer and drummer mad their entrance to the scene and picked up the rest of the band mates. To make a long story short, you’ll never know what the road will bring!! Be prepared!! Watch the video below.

No guts No glory (especially in a leaky motorhome.)

Over the past 5 months, my band members and I have been living in a 93′ Chevy Motor-home. I talked about this in a recent blog post. However, a few days ago it began to rain…and rain….and rain. I looked to the right corner of the cabin above the passenger seat and noticed two bad leaks! I mean these streams of H20 were on a fierce path of destruction! In my lethargic state of half-sleep I got up and thought, oh boy I have to deal with this right now. I got out of bed, ran to the trailer hitched to the back of the RV (which we use for touring/storage), and grabbed a big blue trap along with some bungee cords. Then I realized I didn’t have a ladder. I jumped in my Ford Van (Which I use for local transport) and used it as a ladder! That’s right, I parked it close to the RV and hopped on that bad boy. After the tarp was in place I got back in the RV only to find the leak still going! So in essence…I had to repeat the last dreadful steps with another tarp. Finally, after getting tarp number two in place, I inspected the leak and found that it had ceased. I got back in bed and thought to myself…just another day in paradise.

Being in a band

I’d assume that some people/music lovers not involved with music would wonder…What’s it like to be in a band? The first thing I would like to point out is there are many myths. Being in a band doesn’t mean “instant stardom”, some people think that just because your playing out every night means you’ve acquired fame. It’s not that easy, it takes lots of devotion! From articles I’ve read to people I’ve talked to; success comes from years of learning and hard work! Just like anything. Being in a band is about writing great music, building great relationships, and having fun. It’s about memory and experience not fame and fortune.

Hopes, Dream, and Coffee Shops.

One might think, If you play in a band and live in a RV, what do you do all day? Well, it all starts with a trip down to the local coffee shop (usually Starbucks because I don’t feel as bad mooching off of them). I order a Grande Coffee in a Venti cup and get down to business. Lately, I’ve been working on Marketing and all that fun “business” stuff. Being a band nowadays doesn’t just mean rehearse, play, and hope for a deal. A band is an all-in-one unit that works on every aspect of music which includes getting album reviews, distribution, marketing, scheduling, connecting, and much more…the list goes on. My daily routine is Banshee Bones. I focus all my energy on creating opportunity for my band and being the change I want to see. Don’t be discouraged, do what it ever it takes to be happy at the end of the day. Drastically change your life to benefit your future.

Living on the road….all the time

Over the past 4 months, the band has been crashing out in an old 93′ Chevy Motor home. Yes we’ve been saving a lot of money to fuel our Rock n Roll dreams, But I think we would all agree that it’s our craziest living situation to date. We’ve been on a strict diet of canned food and venture down to the local Gym for a shower every now and again. However, I’m not complaining, I believe this situation has pushed us harder to strive for the “big picture”. We are in the process of writing some of our best songs yet. Another day goes by and the fight for Rock n Roll continues! Stay tuned for more….
